  • Baking Soda – 1 cup
  • Lavender oil – 30 drops

  • Mixing bowl

Steps to follow:

  • Prepare all ingredients.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine your half cup of baking soda with your 30 drops of lavender essential oil.
  • Once properly mixed, put the mixture in your empty container.
  • Let the mixture sit for 24 hours.
  • After 24 hours, you may then use the mixture.
  • Lightly sprinkle the mixture over your carpet.
  • Once done with sprinkling, let the mixture settle into the fibers for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • After 10 to 15 minutes, you may then vacuum your carpet.

IMPORTANT WARNING: If you have pets, you should not use tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is toxic to pets.

This concoction is effective as it can easily remove any funky smell from your carpet after vacuuming. You should do this as often as you like. You can choose different essential oils. Just be extra careful if you have pets and children that can be allergic to certain essential oils.

DIY carpet cleaner # 2: Amazing vinegar

This is possibly the easiest DIY concoction there is and it’s a mystery as to why not all carpet owners do this. You simply need one ingredient here!

Material and ingredient:

  • A bottle of white vinegar
  • Empty bottle with spray pump

Steps to follow

  • Transfer the white vinegar into your empty spray bottle.
  • Spray the vinegar on areas of your carpet that are starting to smell.
  • Let it dry completely.
  • Repeat the process as needed.
